What kind of wideo card do you have now John ?

and is it compatable with the LCD if I remember right you needed

a certian kind of card and a different kind of cable

But memory is failing and typos run wild in my poasts

John

I have a Nvidia GeForce 2Mx 32MB video card. The LCD is an Analog and uses a 15pin D-Sub. It hasn't arrived yet though. Actually there is still a $80.00 rebate with this LCD which brought the price down to $324.00 I hope it's worth it. I got it at www.cdw.com if your interested. But all in all it should work.

John

Anyone interested in this 15" LCD/TFT monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 570V) which was awarded a best buy rating by PC World magazine, CNET.COM, and ZDNET.COM can find it here for $380.OO along with an $80.00 rebate from Samsung makes the final price $300.00 Not to shabby a deal in my book. If your interested go here

Samsung 570V

Rebate offer is good between 07/01/01 and 09/30/01 only. All rebate requests must be postmarked no later that 10/30/01 only one rebate per person.

John,

I'll take two of those. I am wondering about the brightness levels, though. Is it sufficient? I've noticed with store displays that the brightness levels on LCD monitors are considerably lower than standard CRT monitors. Oddly enough, one of the brightest LCD monitors I've seen is an El-Cheapo brand carried by Office Depot; a 15" model (C580) that sells for about $329.

Scuzzy, actually the brightness levels are great. Yeah I've noticed the displays in stores especially those under flourescent lighting seem dim. That is not the case with this display. Another display I was looking at oddly enough was selling at Walmart. It's the KDS RAD-5. It's got a cool silver case and is one of the best buys in an 15" LCD display. It sells for $399.00. That said I've seen the same monitor at Office Depot. The Samsung Syncmaster 570v is better. For $300.00 with the rebate you couldn't get a better deal unless it was free. I like the fact that the text is sharp and the images are great. Scuzzy if you want or know anyone who is going to purchase a 15" LCD now is the time to buy.

Well it's been nearly a month and no problems. Color is amazing and the brightness levels are still excellent. I just may buy a second one for my wife's system and auction the CRT. I have to admit this 15" Samsung Syncmaster 570VTFT display isn't as good as my 17" Samsung Syncmaster 700NF. But, then again I haven't found any 17" CRT that can measure up to the 700NF possibly the best 17" Flat screen monitor ever made.

The nice thing about the 570VTFT is that you can connect it to a standard 15 pin monitor connection. No digital connection needed. Yep it's Analog. The max resolution is 1024 X 768 and no flicker. Samsung

I'm going to purchase an LCD Display. I am leaning toward the Samsung Syncmaster 570V tft  http://www.samsungmonitor.com/html/products/570vtft.htm and the KDS RAD-5 http://www.kdscomputers.com/rad5.htm both have a Best Buy rating. The Samsung from www.zdnet.com and the KDS from www.cnet.com Anyone have any knowledge of these products. If so I would be most interested in what you have to say. Or possibly you have another 15" LCD in mind. Let me know.
