Ok, The new Asus motherboards will take 2 video cards! finally a computer with some HP!

Anyone been pricing homebuilts in this category? The MB can be had for just over $200.00. With one good vid card and a gig of mem, what is YOUR best price?

How much power, and what type of memory does the new "double vid card " asus use. I cant find the reccomended Memory/power supply listed.

I know the new Navida X850 wants minimum 350 wtts, so for 2 what would you need. Im thinking 500 W

Also, what is Atholon doing in this arena (Double vid card potential), as it would be cheaper?

Thanks...

Okay. For a gig of memory, you can spend only $80-100 and get dual channel 2.5CAS PC3200 Corsair, but it won't overclock too much. For a video card, the 6600GT is a good choce for about $150-200, and can be used in SLI. Right now, I'm not sure if the SLR is worth it, but if you just want to have a board ready for it, go ahead. The double video card power issue really depends on the card used, but plan on most high end cards using 50-100watts each.

Also, just FYI, the X850 is made by ATI, not Nvidia. You can get an Athlon motherboard for a dual video card setup. Here is one: motherboard
Athlon64 X2 3800+ Machester@2.45Ghz, 4x1GB A-DATA PC3200@204(2.5-3-3-6), XFX 8800GT, ASUS A8N5X NF4, Antec 300 case, Antec EarthWatts 650w, 640GB 16MB and 200GB 8MB 7200RPM SATA WD HDDs, NEC3540, NEC3550, Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate<br />Photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/Carskick

Although the card you mentioned does not support sli ati just recently released its crossfire system Basicly sli with a cool name.  Im not sure on the specs and everything but you will need an ati chipset as well as an ati card that supports crossfire.  When it comes to the gfx arena these days you might as well wait about a month and you will see the 7800gtx hitting stores as well as ati's new cards.
