Thunderbird bug?

I am using Thunderbird ver. 1.0 (20041206)  and on occassion after opening an incoming message I cannot use the "reply" button to answer.  The program just seems to freeze.  After trying the "reply", I cannot create an orignal message.  The new window will come up and I can address it but it will not allow me to type in any new text or a new subject.
I have speculated that T bird doesn't like some other email client like Outlook Express or something but maybe this is a bug?

Any ideas?

I use the integrated email program with Mozilla but have noticed a continual bug in it also.  On infrequent occasions, I will open the program only to see a completely blank page with no ability to open inbox.  This has been a recurring problem after every format and reinstallation.

It seems now that my problem, which seems different than yours, is related to Yahoo mail users.   Any one that sends me email using the Yahoo.com mail system creates a problem for Tbird.

edit: now even opening an old bit of yahoo sent mail crashes Tbird.   Re-opening Tbird solves the problem temporarily.

No idea, but I have the weekend to look at it among other things.   :-\
