Microsoft has released a Security Rollup Package for Windows 2000. You can find it at this download page (it's 17 MB).

They have dumbly named it SRP1, even though it supercedes SP2. It requires Windows 2000 Professional, Server, or Advanced Server with SP2 installed. Fortunately, if you try to install it over SP1, it will warn that SP2 is required.

The fixes include several denial-of-service and buffer-overflow patches, telnet and file-transfer protocol tweaks and authentication-error repairs, and a bunch of others.

I installed it last night, no problems. It requires a reboot. Now my OS is super-secure, right?
