motive smartbridge updates

i keep getting a popup telling me "motive smartbridge autoupdates are available.  would you like to install?"

what is this...and should i? thanks
i'm just another helpless noob without Poasters.  i appreciate the help everyone...thank you!!!

thanks for the link query! sounds like i dont need to do it...but everytime i say no...on restart it comes back up.  should i disable it like your link states?  what do you think i should do!?!

oh! yes, i have verizon dsl with a linksys router.

I would just turn it off using msconfig, if it turns out you need it, you can always re-enable it.

Have you tried the earlier suggestion to turn it off using msconfig yet?

havent tried it... so thats what you recommend?  it sounds as though this "update" doesnt do much of anything according to the link, and the replies of forum members.

Yes.
Start > Run > type in msconfig > click ok  > startup tab > look for Motivesb > uncheck > click ok.

afterwards, i got a message about how i made a change in the system configurations...so i checked the box, and said ok... was i supposed to do that? thanks
