Hi Guys/Gals,

Have a Toshiba 1905-S301....all OEM, no hardware added.  Had to reformat and reinstall from factory recovery disks (3 disk set) about 2-3 months ago....eveything went fine.  Computer was giving me problems again....slowing way down mainly...so tried the recovery disk set again.  This time I get the following as it reads through the first disk....

"Creating Partition for C:  FAT32-NTFS"

Then the formatting process starts but occassionally, maybe 4-5 times during format I get this with a different unit number each time:

"Trying to Recover Allocation Unit   228040"

It seems to get through the format process ok but next I get this error message:

"Can't Open P:\GHOSTERR.TXT"

Closing that window I get this:

"Error 437   Cannot read from file........."

Then it exits the restore program, goes to a blank screen with a blinking cursor at the top-left and nothing more happens.

Have run the process several times now, all with the same results.

Anyone with ideas?????

thanks
Don G

Best guess:  the hard drive has developed bad sectors and is failing.
