Sounds like the CPU  may be overheating - is the fan working properly?  If it runs OK at 500 MHz but not at 600, it may be a heat issue.

Few questions for you. Which BIOS version are you using? Also is it the 8MB or 16MB version. I know with the 16MB version their is special Speedstep software needed to install.

I have a W-1410 Laptop with a 600 mhz Pentium III processor.  My machine is 10 months old.  It began locking up during booting up.  After experimenting, I noticed that if I disable the Speedstep (it now runs at 500 mhz), everything runs fine.  I thought I would check here first, but since I have a couple of months left on my warranty, I thought I'd see if Intel would at least provide a replacement processor Ha!) that I could get installed locally. I know that I'm nowhere near as bad off as other Quantex owners who have $2500 doorstops.  Any info, experience, etc., much appreciated.
