It is probably designed to work with DriveImage SE, which is shipped with many systems.  You should have a copy of DriveImage SE on your C: drive - one of its options is to make a boot floppy you can use to access the compressed image on your D: drive to restore the system.  Note that if you do this, it overwrites everything on your system with a factory default configuration - so back up any data or irreplaceable programs you've added, first.

My Quantex laptop came with a "D" drive, which I assume is some sort of backup partitioned on the computer's hard drive. If that is a backup drive, how do I start up from it in an emergency?  (I just had a major problem but managed without the D drive, thus prompting this question.)  What is the D drive, what does it do (other than take up a third of my hard drive), and how do I access/use/start up from it?  Thanks!
