I am thinking of upgrading my computer to an Athlon 64 3200+ on the Asus K8V-SE Deluxe mobo. I currently have an Antec 400-watt PSU Model No. SL400, and was wondering if I can use it with the new Athlon 64-bit CPU's? I haven't found anything that says I can't, but nothing that says I can either.

I dont think that you should have any problems, depends more on how many peripherals you have.  plus the 64 (newcastle?) core runs on a lower voltage.  someone correct me if im wrong.

I would guess I'd be sufficent. Antec PSUs are known to give pleanty of power for their wattage rattings (Like Harmon Kardon Receivers, I guess), but the only real way to find out is to try it. Like someone else said, it may work if you don't have too many other preprials.

You won't have any problems with that PSU - Processor combination.

Here?s a handy little tool I came across, it will figure the power supply needs for you based on the number of devices you plan on installing. It seems to be current with most of the new processors.
I don?t know as if it?s the absolute last word, but may be helpful for estimating purposes.

You are likely fine as all 227 watts aren't being pulled at the exact same time in most operations. It is rare for all hard drives, CD ROMs, CD RWs, Processors, Video cards and floppy drives to be pulling max amps at the same time.

Watts.

Yeah, only certain parts of a system pull max watts all the time.

So, unless you want to burn MP3s while you play a graphics-intensive CD game, you're fine.

If you aren't experiencing problems, then your power supply is adequate.

Zackly. :) You could add a slightly more demanding processor and still be reasonably rine, I suppose. If you keep it where you're at, unless something wierd happens, you'll be fine.

I got 329watts on my sig computer according to that chart, and I have a 250watt PSU. Comps running fine though. I know it's an estimation, but it's too unspecific. An MX400 has a 3D gfx accelerator, and so does an FX5950 Ultra, but one uses quite a bit more power. I guess if the comp works, then it's receiving sufficent power.
