The biggest problem with my SOYO unit is that the Maxtor (named) drive is not working right  The IRQ factor was not the problem after all.

Maxtor escapes on this one.  The connector on the back of the Maxtor had one loose wire that was intact but not in constant contact.  That is why the whole system went haywire.  The voltage kept changing rapidly and it affected the whole system.  I never would have found the problem if I had not had to use some force to remove the connector.  Egg on my face, but I needed to "fess" up.   :-[

If you make it a slave, and boot from the hitachi, the maxtor may not have the authorety to cause many of those problems. If it does, rip that sucker out. If your lucky, you can slave just long enough to copy your files to the hitachi, then rip it out and stomp on it. If it's still under warranty, maybe Mator will replace it, and you can use the new one in as a slave or backup, but not as a master. Hopeful it won't cause as much trouble.

Sorry to lead you astray, Carskick.  As you can see, the "Dummy" found the problem.   ::)
