100% cpu usage when running photo collection

hi, when ever i start the photo collection,   the photos come up but as soon as i scroll down to view the rest of the pics , it goes into 100%cpu usage and it keeps me from viewing teh pics  or some timew itll say photocollection not responding, i have windows xp pcg-k23 . can some one help me. thank u. ;D

Is Windows fully up to date on critical patches?
Do you have current, real-time antivirus and firewall protection?
Have you scanned for and removed all spyware?
How much RAM do you have?
What speed CPU?

everything is good, i have 14 gigs empty on one drive and 30 on the other i have protection and i just recently  ran an anti virus and andti spyware i have 512 MB   2.8ghz  448 mb of ram . thx

is this running from the hard drive or from a cd/dvd- rom?

today we had a problem with a cd going bad and lost every part of a 600mb website....

fortunatly the server had a copy and the iso was on one of the machines, a close escape....

hard drive , could it be that i have to many pictures and it cant handle that much. thanks .good thing it had acopy. ;D

Check to make sure your spyware free, then defragment the hard drives. This should help things.

and i am now at a loose end, how many pictures are in that folder your trying to view, and how big is the total size?

anti-spyware programs esspecially can be variable in performance and quality. AOL anti spyware, for example, removes very little real spyware. At least try adaware and Spbot S&D before you are positive spyware is entirely gone. Rarely is 1 spyware program enough these days. Just because you have and have run any old anti-spyware doesn't mean it's all set. Doing this and defraging should improve overal system performance.
