I just purchased your DIR-655 and am in the process of setting it up.  This is my first router.  I diligently followed the setup steps during the Quick Router Setup process.  However, the setup process did not go past the Install Router screen.  I went through the process of ending the setup program, disconnecting the power adapter and network cable from the router, reconnecting my cable modem, and rebooting.  I still continued to get the message:
ââ?¬Å?Router Setup requires your new router to be configured with the default username and password.  Follow these steps:  Remove your routerââ?¬â?¢s factory defaults (for information on how to remove your new routerââ?¬â?¢s factory defaults consult your routerââ?¬â?¢s documentation).  Click Cancel to end the program.  Eject the D-Link Quick Router Setup CD.  Restart your PC.  Reinsert the D-Link Quick Router Setup CD.ââ?¬Â   The Error Information reads ââ?¬Å?Error 323: Router Setup requires your new router to be configured with the default username and password.  Setup version: 5.0.`2.`5  Model: DIR-655.ââ?¬Â

I do not see a specific topic in the User Manual on the CD  with instructions on how to remove the new routerââ?¬â?¢s factory defaults.  In addition, the setup process will not allow me to go do the Configure Router step.

What must I do to resolve this issue and complete the router setup?  Thank you.

I simply connected the router to my cable modem and to my computer.  I still do not know why the software installation did not work properly.  Thanks.
