Opera Browser - What a shame

I wanted to like Opera, I really did. The performance on my ancient laptop is great - better than Internet Explorer and Firefox. Unfortunately it has so many issues with page rendering as to make it difficult to justify daily use.

Yahoo! Mail (previously Yahoo Mail Beta) simply does not work. In previous versions it flat-out didn't work. Now, it seems to load and to actually work fine, until it has just about finished loading at which point it rearranges everything into a horrible mess.

But it isn't just Yahoo Mail. Browsing other sites such as eBay become a frustration. I would rather wait a little longer for Firefox to load than to struggle to read a poorly rendered page. I know the argument - "the pages aren't standards-compliant" but this no longer holds water. What is the point in a web browser that doesn't render a large percentage of pages? It's like designing a car that can only work on a perfectly flat road.
