Title: NewEgg is Losing It
Post by: scuzzy on October 31, 2009, 12:19 hrs
NewEgg is simply being silly. I recently ordered an AFT XM-35U USB 2.0 Kiosk Card Reader (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820176016&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-); on sale for $35 with free shipping. It's scheduled to arrive this Tuesday.

Today I received an "Accessorize Your Purchase" email from NewEgg to recommend 4 other products to "round out" my purchase. 3 of the recommend products are other all-in-one card readers, and the 4th is thermal compound from some unknown company.

Huh? What are they thinking?

Scuzzy; what a waste of cyberspace.

Or simply hurting, like most other companies.

Well, that's not fair. I have received 8 orders from newegg since the middle of September and I didn't get any of those types of emails.

But that does look like a nice card reader, I have a couple of similar ones and I like them.

I received the card reader a few days ago and finally got it installed.

Works beautiful, although the blue LED light is way too bright. So I removed the front panel and covered the LED with a piece of a Post-It note. It tamed the light considerably.

Ok, i did receive something similar today. I've been looking at memory several times in the past couple of weeks and since I'm usually logged in at the time, they sent me an email with some suggested memory modules. Basically the same ones I've been looking at.

This is what the email mentions: Thank you for showing interest in our Desktop Memory section. Here are 4 custom-picked products we felt you may like.

On another note, this is my card reader, I like it and no blue lights. I have the little red one that stays on all the time though, even when system is powered down.
