I thought I'd try my hand at creating my own wallpaper. I wanted to do something semi-professional, or at least not too amateur-like. My job takes me into a lot of peoples homes, and I often see that people use their cheesy snapshots as wallpaper. To me, they look like... well... cheesy snapshots.

I enlisted the un-willing help of my wife's cat, Brian, and I used my Canon PowerShot A570-IS in auto-mode without a flash. I came up with the following result:

1024x768 138KB
1280x1024 196KB
1400x1050 226KB
1600x1200 280KB

If you have any interest in creating your own, please feel free to share your results here. Just make sure that it's your original work. If you want help uploading the photos to Poasters, let me know and I'll make it happen.

To quickly resize your images, I HIGHLY recommend the free (and very, very easy to use) utility VSO Image Resizer.

Not that I am fond of cats, but the detail in 1600x is amazing.

Well, fine.  I don't know if anyone told you, but it's a CAT....

Criminy.  I tap into my many folders of fotos, for my wallpaper.  I have a fine range of scenic and strange images to behold.  Plus, I always set my screensaver for the photo phlip of random images.  I do have a few shots of a range of dogs.  I would offer there are no CATS in the portfolio.

Not that Brian isn't a lovely kitty.  Although I should have also liked to have seen a picture of Alex, your other cat.  I think if you have catS, they should have equal time.

Ace; I am semi-professional yet amateur-like.
Ring bells for service.

JA,

Thanks for catching that. It's now fixed, but you may need to refresh your screen for the updated copy.

I don't think the original photo would convert well to a 16:9 format, but I'll keep that in mind for future attempts.

I was an Army photographer in the mid to late 70s (almost exclusively B&W), using Yashika, Leica and Olympus equipment. Several of my pics were published defense-wide. But, that was then. Now I just take snapshots.

I just might dig through some of my old photos and add them here as possible wallpaper.

Thanks.
