patman,

I'll recommend the book that I have been using to learn HTML, and put a personal site together.

HTML By Example, 2nd Edition, by Ann Navarro

As the title suggests, it has lots of examples, and downloadable "answers" to the quiz questions, in case you get stumped. It's a good entry-level book. I started knowing nothing, and got through it in a couple of weeks. It has only a few examples of the more advanced JavaScript and Java applicatons, but it does have a good section at the end on setting up a personal web site.

patman,

Don't forget to check the links on the bottom-right of the Poasters Home Page. Bear and I went through a lot of trouble to find those links, so by all means take advantage of them.

Thanks a bunch. That sounds just like what I am looking for.

What can I say but thanks? Not just for the links but also for the time you, Bear and Joanie have spent in the creation and maintenance of this site. You guys are the best!

I will definitely make use of the links.

Thanks again,

Pat

I downloaded a copy of this last night: http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/index.html

It is a self-described ? powerful web site workshop?. It is care ware (freeware) see: http://www.arachnoid.com/careware/index.html

After playing around with this for a while I realize I need to become a little better versed in html. I would appreciate it if someone could recommend to me a book that would be good for a beginner like myself. There is only about a gazillion books on this at the bookstore. If someone could make a recommendation on one that they found useful I would sure appreciate it. What I?m looking for is a basic understanding of html and perhaps it would take you up through the creation of an actual site. My goal is to have a working understanding of the actual code as opposed to a program like FrontPage that from what I can tell hides it from the casual user.

Thanks in advance,

Pat
