Amd XP 2000+ Temp Question
I rebuilt an older computer & am running @ 50 To 60C Temp
Is that OK... limits are 90C
======================
But my P4 1.6 runs @ 22C
=======================
My first AMD CPU I know they run hotter than a P4
But that seems high...is that normal
=====================
I realize that case cooling is an issue...
but I have added a rear fan as well

Actually, you should be able to bring it down a bit.  That translates to about 147F? to 167F?, which will cook a ham.  Describe how you have your fans set in the tower.

Actually it stays @ about 52C (127F)
Loaded or unloaded
====================
Is that to high..it says 90C max?
The rear fan is in the lower section @ the back  of the case
====================================
It has a turbo cooler utility of some kind on the driver disk
Also a core utility device of some kind..but I didn't install it
PC4 Utility or something like that
It seems to work...but has to be loaded each start up..I get a cooler driver error
I just uninstalled it because ..I hate software errors

1)  To keep it cool, you first must have an adequate approved cooler on the CPU.
2)  I would direct the fan on the rear to exhaust so that power supply exhaust does not recirculate.
3)  Be sure that cables are not smothering the CPU cooler.
4)  Clear all air ports of dust.
5)  Clean any dust out of tower and especially off the CPU cooler with compressed air.  (If you are allergic to dust, wear a mask.  I get sneezing fits if I get my face near the blowing dust).

Check temp again.

Thanks for your info/time
==================
It is now running lower 47C
Is it possible that the grease etc takes some time to burn in..
in the initial starts I smelled a electronic burning smell
(not a serious thing just a new smell)
====================
I did the five steps you sent..during the install
============
Tks again for yoir info

If it is a tower case, your CPU is typically just below the power supply. If you fan it too low in the back, you are not passing enough air over the CPU. Make sure you have a fan blowing out of the back that is at the height or a little higher than the CPU. This will allow it to pull air over the CPU and out.

Enjoy the nature that is around you rather than destroying it.

OK ..tks..I have to keep it below my PCI slots
Or they get blocked..but I have it as high as able
tks again
