Netscape 7.1 moved from Windows 98 computer to Win xp Pro Computer

I appeared to be successful in moving Netscape folders and files over, but the INBOX is very unstable and has managed to find some 1,800 previous messages dating back more that 2 years and I am unable to delete them.  Messages in other folders for them most part are normal and most of my addresses in my address books are there.  Any suggestion to get my INBOX operating normally, without destroying what I have moved over.  Thank you.
