Well, assuming that this is real, you can only be lucky enough if you live near enough to one of the following to claim your prize in person:

San Francisco

Boston

Seattle

Philadelphia

Houston

Chicago

Fortunately, there is hope for the rest of us:

Don't be too bummed out if we're not stopping in your neck of the woods. In the next few weeks you'll have a chance to win our new processor online!

I can't say for sure if the offer is for real or not. I came across that link at the http://www.amdzone.com/ . I guess the actual chances to win something lie somewhere between slim and none. I think I will watch for the online contest just for the heck of it anyway. Chicago is a short (2 hr) train ride away for me, when it comes to going down town I avoid driving, doubt if I'll have time to go though.

They started the online contest today. You have to take a little 5 question quiz to get in the game. I missed one, but they let you try till you get it right. Neon you don't live close to Austin do you? Thats the next city. It would be nice if they came to South Bend.

Perhaps Ace and I could get in on it.

patman,

I passed the 5 questions last night with flying colors! Of couse, I cheated and looked at their website first. Really, who knew AMD was awarded 1044 patents in 2000 (as if that means anything)?

Anyway, no, I don't live particularly close to Austin, but I am going anyway. It means leaving at 2:00 Monday morning to get there by 6:00 <-- sleepy

According to the blinky map, it looks like the cities after Austin are (in no particular order): Dallas, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlanta, Portland, Detroit, Raleigh/Durham, Denver, Silicon Valley, San Diego, Tampa and St. Louis. So it looks like your best bet might be Detroit? When they come to Dallas, I'll go again in the unlikely event they send me home from Austin emptyhanded. Heck, I might even go again anyway.

Well lots of luck, and coffee. To get to Detroit I'd have to get going around 2:00 also. Well, we shall see. I hate to miss work this time of year, what with winter closing in and all.

I see they are also now giving away 30 extreme gaming machines. Must be one in person one online

Along with 1500 more processor/motherboard combos.

I will get my name in that hat all 15 times

I don't want to talk about Austin, so don't ask me.
