Microsoft says to cripple JavaScript

Microsoft has not found a solution to the security hole in IE other than the beta version of XP Service Pack 2 and says to deactivate the JavaScripting unless theSP2 upgrade is installed.  As to why they are unable to furnish a simple "plug" for the hole, they don't say.

PCWorld says that a satisfactory workaround and, I might add, solution, is to use Mozilla or Opera which are not affected by the Russian virus.  Since JavaScript is a primary method of linking and drop-down menus in web pages, one of the alternate browsers would seem to be the better choice.  The virus strains have successfully captured keystroke-logging and have stolen financial records through IE.  I could not find the article on PCWorld online, but it is on page 53 of the September 2004 edition.

maybe its the one thing they cant fix  because  its the very loophole they left for themselves.. prolly to implement some kinda counter-piracy patch etc.
incase of a mass epidemic of pirated copies of windows!!!!!! or maybe not :o
