I want to add a additionnal 512MB PC2700 333MHz DDR to my 128MB but a blue screen came up during bootup and the computer restarts and I get the message "Your system hung for improper frequency combination. Make sure the frequency combination conforms to the specifications of your CPU, DIMM and other connected Devices." Can someone walk me through this?

WinXP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2000+

query

Make sure the memory is set to run at 266 MHz, not 333 - the CPU frontside bus for a 2000+ is 266, not 333.

What make and model of system board do you have?

bucky

The memory was set to run at 266mhz. I have a Asus A7V8X-X motherboard.

query

Try the "load setup defaults" or "failsafe" option in the BIOS setup.

It sounds like you have a faulty or incompatible memory module -- try a new one.  What brand of memory are you using?

or try switching the DIMM around in the motherboard. Although it should have POST'ed something when you were booting, it may work.
