IE Tab - extension for Firefox

For the longest time I resisted fully moving over to Firefox due to 4 sites that I frequently use that must be rendered in Internet Explorer. Although 2 of those sites mostly work in Firefox, I lose a lot of needed features. Since I got tired of going back and forth, I mostly stuck with IE7.

Yesterday I was reading a recent copy of PC Magazine, which contained an article for useful Firefox extensions. The one that caught my eye was: IE Tab.

The IE Tab extension allows Firefox users to open specific sites in IE by embedding IE in a Firefox tab. It works seamlessly and at first glance you don't even know that the tab is running under IE. But the results work perfectly. I can now run all the sites I need without problem using only Firefox. Yes, IE does run in the background when I run those 4 sites, but it also closes down once I close the tab.

I also use IE Tab to list links to specific video feeds. For some reason certain video feeds don't run all that well in Firefox as they do in IE7. Again, IE Tab resolves this problem by running the video in an instance of IE. Once I close the video, IE is automatically shut down.

The extension installs easily and is equally easy to administer. Thanks to IE Tab, Firefox is now the default browser for ALL of my computers.
