Corn Wagon

Shoot, I accidentally overturned my wagon load of corn the other day. It just so happened though that a farmer who lived nearby heard the noise.

"Hey Pat!!" the farmer yelled. "Forget your troubles. Come in with us. Then I'll help you get the wagon up."

"That's mighty nice of you, " I answered, "but I don't think Ace would like me to."

"Aw, come on," the farmer insisted.

"Well okay,"  I finally agreed, and added, "But Ace won't like it."

After a hearty dinner, I thanked my host. "I feel a lot better now, but I know Ace is going to be real upset."

"Don't be foolish!" the neighbor said with a smile. "By the way, where is he?"

"Under the wagon."

Well, there's a bright side.  Even though it would be dark, down there.

At least I'm off the wagon.  I'll drink to that, whether it's corn based or some other grain.

Ace; I oughta write a dang joke where it makes pat look bad... shoot, I forgot I can't write jokes.  dangit

Well, that's more than a word.  It's several, according to my count.

Don't encourage pat.  I don't think someone's mishaps should be a laughing matter.

Especially in having a corn wagon.  I've heard of hay rides, in a wagon, but not corn rides.  I suppose hay could stick on you went you sit it in, but I can't even imagine where a corncob could wind up.

Ace; I can't.  I can't imagine it.
