I don't have answers for the first part of your message. As for the second part, you can go to Control Panel - Add/Remove programs, and remove MSN Messenger 3.5. Then reinstall MSN Messenger 3.0 (assuming you have the install file). It's possible, however, that if you installed 3.5 on top of 3.0, then 3.0 will be there when you remove 3.5.

I am not sure what that error code means. Sorry I wish I could be more help, but I have searched three knowledgebase's and come up with nothing.

and oh yes, is it possible to go back to MSN messenger 3.0 after i upgraded to 3.5?

3.0 lets me call canada for free while 3.5=charges.  anythin gfor a free call!
