Just a test of the "Report an abusive poast to a moderator". I want to ensure that only a single message is being sent to the moderators. If you receive more than one message, please let me know.

Neon - you should receive two notices. One directed to your regular email account, and one forwarded from admin@poasters.com.

Question?
Is there any indication as to who it is that submits the

"Report an abusive poast to a moderator" request.

I guess what I'm asking is there a way to track who actually initiated the request. I haven't ever watched that to close and always assumed it the was the person who poasted the topic.

It is not anonymous. The note that gets sent to moderators includes who is tipping off the abuse, and which poast and thread the problem is in.

Ok, bear with me as I send out an abuse warning so I can compare it with the one Scuzzy sent before.

Thanks

Ok, I got it.  ;)

I never paid much attention to the emails themselves.

Whenever I get one of those alerts, I have always just gone to the forum to see what had been poasted.

The problem is that you can just log out and then report it as a guest and then there's no trace of who it was. :-\

Neon

good point, Dave, I see that now.

BTW, Scuzzy, I did receive two emails, as expected.

Now, do we have an emergency broadcasting system around here that I can test? I want to set off the siren.

Maybe you or Eric can make that link only appear when the user is logged in.  Even better, I think we could just remove the link all together.  We have enough moderators and admins that something won't be there long, and I can't remember anything having to be removed because someone reported it.  Just my opinion though.

Neon

I vacillate on this. On one side, the function is slightly more of a nuisance than a useful tool so far. You are right that most offensive poasts (the few that there have been) have been caught quickly by mods/admins. Placing the link in every poast is somewhat akin to placing a fire alarm pull lever every 10 paces in every room in the building.

On the other side, Poasters is relatively mod/admin heavy right now. If we suddenly skyrocket in popularity,  ;D then each thread may not get monitored in a timely fashion. Also, maybe people feel 'safer' with the link there. It' sort of a security link.

You know, if an administrator or moderator clicks the "send report" thing, they should receive a message saying something like this:

"Why in the heck you sending yourself reports dumb-dumb?"

And if one of us normal members sends one, we should receive a message saying this:

"You snitch!  If you were in the mob, you'd be swimming with the fishes."
Don't eat that.

why are you being rude to the Admins/Mods Poast78? It No Nice Bad Poast78
