I'm setting up a wireless network from my computer to my laptop.Ive got a
D-link604+ router/modem.and a D-link 650+ cardbus adapter in the laptop.The
problem is when i set up the adapter everything is fine.I connect to the
internet via my computer, and there are no problems whatsoever. As soon as i
close the laptop down and reboot,it says No card adapter found. After a while
of uninstalling the drivers and the hardware and reinstalling over and over
it detects the card and everything is ok.Then when i shut down and reboot
another time, it happens all over again. Can anyone say why it fails to
detect the card when the laptop first starts up.

query

What operating system is the notebook running?

query

Check inside the notebook - are any of the pins on the PCMCIA connector bent?  The pins are small and fairly soft.

query

What make of notebook is it, and are all the drivers for the PCMCIA bridge loaded?  Have you tried a different card to rule out a faulty PCMCIA card, or tried the same card in the other slot (if there are two)?

It's a Compaq nx9005. I.ve updated to the latest drivers, and tried it in both slots. The only thing i havent done is try another card, because only have the one.As i said everything works fine till i close down and restart.

query

That's what I'd try next - a different PCMCIA card.  The only other thing would be to boot in safe mode, and remove the drivers for the card completely, and reboot, reinstalling them -- though that may not tell you much.
