Hi Neo,

All Quantex fans suck. You will be doing yourself and your computer a great favor by replacing it. The guys will let you know the best place to purchase one. I had mine installed at one of the local computer stores.

Joanie,

Thanks for the reply. The end of the month the computer will be 2 years old. Today the case temp is okay. 78 degrees. I haven't cleaned it since I got it so it is probably pretty dusty. Again thanks for the reply.

Try cleaning the fans and accumulated dust - it can hinder cooling.

Case fans are usually 80 or 92 mm in diameter and easily replaceable - just about any computer store should have them.  CPU fans, likewise  -  they're inexpensive and easily available.

Buy ball-bearing fans - the cheaper needle-bearing or no-bearing fans don't last anywhere near as long and are usually noisier.

My   Qp-6 SM-4X  266 had fan trouble also. It only had "one" fan on the power supply,, that fan started "squealing",,, so Q replaced the power supply.  There was a spot for another fan in the bottom right front of the tower,, so I added that one just for fun. And YES !!!!  open the hood and blow out the 'puter with a can of commpressed air,, you may be surprised how full of dust "bunnies" it is.  Unless my wife is just a lousy house cleaner,,,,,,ooooooo,, I won't go there..

Like Grandpa used to say, "maybe there ain't nothin' wrong, but, somethin' aint' right."

While you can replace the fan inside a power supply, it's generally not a good idea to open the power supply unless you're familar with electronics repair and the dangerous voltages inside.  It's not quite as dangerous as the inside of a monitor (or worse yet, a microwave oven), but there are exposed high voltage components inside a PC power supply that can cause harm if you contact the wrong point.

For most people, it would be better to replace the power supply itself rather than take the chance on opening it up.

It seems I may need a new fan for my Quantex. The case temperature was 102 degrees and the alarm was sounding. How hard is it to change the fan and where is a good place to get a new one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
