Its always neat to see other peoples desks or work stations. Here is mine at the moment. Moved my Apple HD displays to work  >:( for a little while, but these two are working great for me now.

The G5 specs are in my signature, the only thing different is the screens. In the picture I have a (left) BenQ FP557s 15 inch LCD VGA. The other screen (right) is a Samsung 172x DVI 17 inch TFT LCD. I love the samsung lcd, its indrediple thin, and fits with my G5 wonderfully. Well not lets see yours!

nice hardware....

wonderings

thanks, yes at the moment thats how it all sits, I have a dog, and the floor is carpet, so I wanted to keep the G5 away from that. And if I put it to far away I cannot reach the dvd drive. I find I have plent of room though, the lcd's really help conserve the space.

This is my desk. Sorry it's a little messy. I actually took this picture a few months ago, it's just cropped.

Edit: New picture. Recently taken and neater.

If I could locate that place where you can poast photos and link to, when you don't have a website, I'd try it.  So far I haven't seen a faux Scandinavian desk quite like mine.

I took photos of the lunar eclipse last night.  I have a hunch they'll turn out to be little white dots with a smudge across the corner.

I guess I'll download them.

Ace; going.

nice desk Chandler, I like the fact that its all hidden when you close those doors. You just need a stylish Flat Screen or even the new iMac to complete the look  ;D

Yes it looks neat and tidy when the doors are closed.  The keyboard and mouse are both on a slide-out tray (there's also space for a coffee cup on there too, which has on occasion fallen onto the floor when I slide the tray back in forgetting it's on there ::)).  The other unit next to it (with the iDEQ SFF PC on it) has my printer and Quantex PC in it.

As for flat panel monitors; I'm seriously considering the Samsung Syncmaster 910N which we just got at work for CAD work and it is superb with viewing angles and colours not percievably worse than any CRT.  That Quantex monitor keeps hanging on in there though...

wonderings

this is off topic, but what is a Quantex PC? Is it just a brand name?

Yes (well it was, they're bankrupt now).  If it wasn't for Quantex we might not have had Poasters.

wonderings

was there something different or unique about Quantex computers? Or was it just a help forum that turned all PC forum?

They were just a regular manufacturer, similar to Dell and Gateway.  I'll leave it to Ace to explain how it came about:
Why do we spell Poasters with an "a"?

pat

Sure took me a while to get my desk cleaned off, but here's mine.

SeaSonic S12 550W, Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Asus M2N SLI-Deluxe, nvidia 9600 GSO, 2x2 gig Crucial Ballistix, LG DVD/RW, 2x Western Digital Black Edition 640gb,  SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22", Canon PIXMA MP600,  Logitech X-230 speakers, Logitech Comfort Duo keyboard & Mouse, Windows 7 64 Home Premium & Vista 64

Ace

Geez Louise, Pat, I thought you said you were going to clean your desk...

What is it with you guys with your 4 towers and dual monitors...?  I mean, I used to run a trackball with a mouse with a joystick but I never wanted to watch two screens at once or shut down four different buttons.  No wonder your cats are wall-eyed, having to keep tabs on all that.  Tabby.

So what was your question?  Oh, yeah.  Quantex.  Criminy, Chandler's kept up.  It's been awhile for some of us.  Quantex was a manufacturer; had cool ads and some nice custom configuration options.  Dell was a bit more money and a bit (lot?) more stable but Quantex was appealing to us renegades.  I bought mine December 97; got the software weeks later... Mag monitor, 233 PII, 4.5 gig hard drive.  64 meg ram.  Woo hoo.  Goosed that over time to 256.  It worked.  Win95 s2.   Actually pretty stable and competent.  Still working; my sister in law has it now.  If they had kept up, who knows what they'd be now.  Probably like ABS but actually more trustworthy.  The whole Fountain Technologies bring-down was the scandal of the day, as the company origins were contested.  The irony was that they offered a pretty much free for all no-holds barred chatroom, which begat this.  Dell's was far more regimented... Quantex let people speak their mind.  Even non-Quantex users.  I forget his name, but his initials were Scuzzy.

That became this.  This, became...  well, look at the pictures.  A mess, but an interesting one.

Ace; I have no idea how the A got into PoAsters.  I don't even know how the O got in it.
Ring bells for service.

are all those computers running? Or are they just for show?  :D

Hey pat, is that a Quantex XP175N monitor?

Is there anyone who doesn't have a window next to their PC/edit: or Mac?  :)

The switches above my computer is a power strip/surge protector. I have several more behind the screnes as well, but it is the master one. My desk is actually no longer that messy. It's usually not, actually, it just happened to be when I took the picuture.

Edit:
I've updated the picture of my desk above. Check it out.

Hey Chandler, looks good. It seems it would lack leg room, though. Does it?

So far, you and I are the only losers with only one monitor.  :P

There's no room to stretch your legs, but once the keyboard tray is fully out it's not too bad:

Here's the clutter which gets put into the other desk:

And here's my desk from my first year at university:

Chandler,
My Quantex monitor is an xp19on or Nec Chromaclear.
It was a very dependable monitor, but as you can see the Samsung is much brighter and easier on the eyes.

Wonderings,
Yes all those computers are currently wired up. The Q system is being made ready to be given to my sister. The Dell is my sister-in-laws, I just can?t get it clear to her to keep her AV up to date, it?s just jammed up again with crap and needs to be formatted and a fresh install of windows built. The two on the bottom are my regulars.

Ace
What to you mean thought???
I spent an hour getting that ready for a picture.  ;)
Oh and if you really want to show us your desk send me a pic in the email and I?ll put it up for you.

What do you mean, what do I mean?

Thanks, pat; I'll try the shared site, but if I get jammed up I'll fire one off to you.  Appreciate the assistance.

First, I have to take a photo.  I took a bunch of the lunar eclipse, and they're all abysmal.  Tiny white dot moons with a smear over the tree by the streetlight.  How awe inspiring.

Actually, tonight's yellow full moon is more impressive anyway.

Ace; howloooooohoooooo.  Where wolf?  There wolf.

Well, I've got the photo on Fotopage.  But I can't figure how to link it here.  I've put the photo address between "Image" here, and that didn't work. Also tried the URL but that only takes you THERE to view it.  What do I need to do for the image there to appear here?

Ace. Criminy.
