Don!

Welcome, buddy! YOU'RE THE NUMBER ONE POASTER!

Congratulations.

No, this is currently not setup to auto-refresh as the old chat.

I'll see if it's possible.

Congratulations, Don!

Glad Scuzzy added "poaster" to being number one, though. Some of us in these here Okie-parts are a little sensitive about rankings and all.

Feel free to test poast and see what this place has to offer. No blocking below the waist, though.

Joanie

Don G,

It looks like you are our number 1 Poaster.

Welcome to the new Poasters Forum. Do I know You??

Joanie

Hi Joanie,

This looks like a well-designed interface, and you all have been quite informative and helpful in the past, so I plan to hang around.

One thing I meant to ask a long time ago - when I look up "poast" in the dictionary, it isn't there. Why not?

Neon, you ask a very good question. Guess we need to get the word out, so to speak.

As for etymology, 'Poast' is a combination of several different words, as I see it. 'Post', of course; then there's 'toast' and 'roast', not to mention 'boast'.

They all add a little tint to the Poasters palette.

Joanie

Hi Neon,

I like to think we own the word "Poast" and denied Webster the use of the word in his dictionary, but of course you would never believe that story so I'll let The Bear give you another explanation.

We should let Ace explain it, since he's the one who first took 'poast' and ran with it.

In fact, I considered naming this forum 'Ace's Place' in his honor.

Then I sobered up.

Don G

Scuzzy,

Geeez, first poast and I spelled your name wrong...Sorry.

Bear,

I like the pic. I'm an Okie myself, by birth (born in ADA). But haven't been back in a long while.

GO SOONERS

They gonna make it, baby....

Joanie,

I think you know me, remember "The Blind Squirrel"?

Probably shouldn't admit it...hehe

I be Don from here on out....

Don,

One nice feature about this forum is that you can go back and edit your poast to make corrections.

Ada? You gotta be kidding! I lived there for a few years myself, until we moved into the hills about twenty miles north.

I have an autographed pic of J.T.Thatcher on my bookshelf. His proud uncle works with my wife. Don't know if you've heard, but he's up for the Jim Thorpe award as the country's best defensive back. Problem is, he was beat out of his starting job by a redshirt freshman.

Just heard on the radio: the Guinness Book of World Records will be in College Station this week because the Texas Aggie crowd will try to break the all-time decibel record for crowd noise.

BOOMER SOONER!

Joanie

I agree, Ace is the person who could best explain "Poast". He didn't realize what a monster he created in that word but I bet he will come up with a perfect explanation.

The Blind Squirrel, Hmmmmmm! I guess I should remember that but I don't. It sounds like a potent drink and I could use one right now.

I'll remember Don that's a promise.

Bear,

Well, like I said, it's been a long time since I was there. I think the last time was in the mid-1950's (geeez, just gave away my age....oh well...)

But, I still root for the Sooners, even in the "not so good" times.;)

Actually, I was born in Ada, but raised through most of grade school years in Colgate, bout 36 miles away, if my memory isn't failing.

Well, Ada has probably changed some, though Coalgate probably hasn't. Ada is one of my favorite towns in the state, nestled in the hills, with a lot of old-South charm and friendliness.

A friend of mine was the city manager of Coalgate for a few years until he was hired by Pauls Valley. I don't think you want to hear his opinion of Coalgate.

If you ever head back this way for old time's sake, be sure to give me a holler.
