a friend of mine has a .wav file she'd like to protect, atm she only knows how to hide the file, which is good enough but if someone unhides the file it'll be there for all to see.
is there a way to password protect a .wav? i've found likely looking options in win2000 pro but they aren't there in xp (prolly cuz my OS is designed for multiple users on a network, where different access rules may apply for individuals)
we'd be really grateful if someone could help.
If it's XP Pro, yes, you can password protect the file. If it's Home, you can't -- at least not without a third-party utliity.
i would doubt she has xp pro. could you suggest a 3rd party program for her?
Norton Utilities includes one - so too does PowerDesk (part of System Suite).
If you're looking for a free one, PGP is one option
