I want a dvd burner and am looking at the Samsung Internal DVD-W Supermulti SATA 22X Lightscribe which sells for $31 incl s&h on Amazon. It says it requires sata cables. I have the Asus A8N-SLI mb. How do I check if it allows sata cables?
Also, does anyone have an opinion on this dvd burner or a better one? Thanks, Tom
Yes it does support SATA.

Thanks Bill. I don't think there is a cheaper burner around. Tom
Newegg has this one on sale this week with free shipping.
Samsung DVD SH-S222A (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151175&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL121509&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL121509-_-CDDVDBurners-_-L0D-_-27151175)
It's not SATA though.
If your system supports SATA, then I would opt for SATA drive. You won't notice any significant speed gain for a DVD player, but the SATA cables are much easier work with and are better for system cooling. Overall, SATA peripherals are also easier to manage.
Thanks for your input Scuzzy, Pat. I ordered the SATA model. It also comes with Nero which I've had overall good experience with in the past. I'll let you know how it works. Tom
