upgrading cpu in presario 900 laptop

I have a compaq presario 900us laptop with athlon xp mobile 1700+ cpu. I was just wondering  what is the highest speed of the amd mobile cpu that motherboard /laptop/bios support.
Any help will be appreciated.

That, you would have to ask Compaq.  There's no way to tell otherwise.
