hi, i'm a newbie to the comp. I have a compaq with window 98 and i want to format it to window xp pro. I have the software, but i don't know how to do it. Could  you please help me? thanks.

Hello and welcome to poasters.
First what model of compaq do you have? I ask because we want to be sure that you have access to any updated drivers you will need for XP.
Also make sure you back up any files you want saved as well as email address, favorites, product keys, etc.
After you are sure you have all the drivers you need and your files backed up, just put the XP cd in the drive and reboot. You will then just need to follow the on screen prompts to install.
