New Format of Spam

This junk began to be a problem several weeks ago but is really getting to be a prolific pain.  I keep getting spam with no subject line and signatures such as Brooks Johnson, Maggie Perry,...etc, seemingly innocuous stuff.  None of it is emailed to my address; it is always to another address.  Someone must have figured out a new way to "scatter-shot" this crap without even hitting any specific email address.  I am still hoping for an "e" bomb to attach to a reply but I suspect that these spammers have the best firewalls and anti-virus software on the Internet, and the wish is purely fantasy anyway.  Has anyone heard of a new spam assault like this that has any solution at all?  Since my email address is never in the string, it is a real puzzle as to how these bird droppings ended up in my box.

The really odd thing about all of these weird emails is that there seems to be absolutely no content at all, just a sender and a recipient.  I have been debating reinstalling Mailwasher to open one of these just to see if it can reveal anything at all.  The mailings are becoming more frequent, but no more annoying than always.

My MS Outlook used to move everything to junk mail that wasn't on my contact list. Now stuff makes it to the in-box even though they are not one of my contacts. I am getting more porn, viagra and junk email. I even received an email today that had Jesus as the sender! Since we are moving, we are getting a new email address. I welcome the change.

I even get emails with gibberish in the from line, which causes Outlook to not be able to put them on the blocked list.

Just like you Whizbang, I find my email address is no where to be found in the email headers. I too am at a loss as to what has happened.

Bcc is probably why your e-mail is not in the "To:" Header.

I hope you don't mind I gave my friends, Brooks Johnson and Maggie Perry, your email...  I thought you might like a "pen pal" and I enjoy their correspondence.  Heike Lynch asked for it, too, so I figured there was no harm in including her.  I don't think I know a "Jadwig Silvana" although Jad Silvana is a close, personal friend.

Oh, and if you should hear from Ross "Tony" Phamixid tell him I said "hey"!  He's quite a character...

You know, what you could do, is send them my email in the "To" line.  There's nothing like getting an unsolicited email with a Jester as the subject.
