I have the chance to get a Seagate Cheetah 18g hard drive fairly cheaply.
How difficult (or easy) would it be to fit to a P4 running Win2000.
It would be the only SCSI device on the machine.
I've heard that 'termination' is required (No, not Arnold). Is this a problem for the average DIY?

You need a SCSI controller of the same type as the drive.  Most Cheetahs are LVD drives (low voltage differential) using ultrawide SCSI connectors - a controller card is going to run about $200-300.

You should also beware the ventilation of the case - these are server drive that run very fast, very hot, and very loud - so if you're bothered by drive whine, and the PC is in your living space, that may also be a consideration.

Thanks query - guess the cost of a controller card puts it out of contention then
