400GB+ SATA Hard Drive Recommendations?

I'm looking for a 400GB or 500GB SATA hard drive for storing DVD images for my HTPC system.  The three manufacturers I'm considering are Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital.  I've not had any bad experiences with any of them but am I correct in thinking that Hitachi are still offering a 3-year warranty whereas the other two 5-year?

query

Seagate's are all 5 year.  WD has some 3 and some 5 year (the enterprise-class drives are all five year).

All three are decent drives;  you can probably safely buy by price and availability.

wonderings

I prefer Seagate, never had a problem with them, just picked up a 400 gig Seagate, going to putting that in my G5 after this post! But again I recommend Seagate. All my machines use them and never had any issues.

Western Digital is my preference, but Segate is a close second.

Western Digital and Seagate are my top two drives. I have both and like both pretty equally.

I too am up there with Seagate and WD as my favorites.

if performance is of any question the western digital with 16mb cache is the top performer of those drives although only by a slim margin.

Thanks for the replies.  I settled on a 500GB Seagate which arrived today.  So far, I'm impressed; it is pretty quiet.

wonderings

I find them to be quiet drives. Just curious, what did you pay for yours?
