Is there any way to write a program in Visual Basic 6.0 which will detect when a USB device is plugged in (and then allowing another program to be started up)?

The reason I ask is that I have a Hauppauge DEC2000-t USB DVB-T adapter, and with this I use ShowShifter DVB 3.  I can control the entire SS software with the DEC remote, including DVD playback and so it would be great if I could get SS to launch automatically as soon as the DEC is plugged in.

Is this outside the realms of possibility for Visual Basic?
