Have a look at http://www.novatech.co.uk as I have found their service to be excellent and the prices are good too.  I purchased the Nexus iStyle case from them and it is exceptionally quiet, but doesn't come with a PSU, so I bought the Nexus NX-4090 which is virtually inaudible.

Quick question though.  Why do you have so many DVD devices listed?  I'd just go for the NEC DVD writer.

Igloo

ah, thats due to me getting excited and adding 1 to many, lol, removed now, i will look at that psu, and use with that case, as it looks nicer, to me anyway.

How much more would it be to opt for an Athlon 64 3200+? Wouldn't that be more "future proof?"

Also, do you plan on getting a new video card? Good luck, Igloo!

Do you really need the longer warranty offered by the retail XP 3200+?  Dabs.com have the OEM version for less than ?110 inc VAT which seems like a better deal, especially since you are using your own cooler.

Igloo

nice, how much is postage there, for some reason the site is bloacked here, at school, ? it seems a better offer yes :) and i am using a better cooler than a stock cooler ;D

Igloo,
I can't help with where to get it cheaper, being in the states.  A lot of people on other boards have commented that the amd 3200 is not that much different in performanace than the 3000.  there is a difference in price however.

Have you compared the 2 processors?
Antec 3700 | Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R | Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz | 4 GB (4x1GB) DDR2 PC 5300 Kingston RAM | Antec NeoPower 550W | eVGA GeForce 9500GT 1GB 128 bit PCI Express 2.0 | Intel SSD X25-M 80GB | VelociRaptor 150GB | WD 80GB 7200rpm |Samsung 22x SATA Burner |Windows 7 32-bit

Igloo

only the price difference of ?25 on novatech suprises me, the 3200+ has a higher fsb (400) and i would guess run better for an extreme gaming system....

although, if you guys think different, please say so!

Shoud operate at 2.2 Ghz not 2.16. be sure you actually order the processor you want. XP3000 @ 333 FSB barton operates at 2.16 Ghz. There's also a 400 FSB XP3000.

Bill

The FSB 400 XP 3000 is the one I was referring to when I suggested you compare the two.

i see, but at the suppliers i shall buy from, they do not seem to stock it, so i shall end up going for the slightly faster 3200+

Also, because very few people bought the XP3200 (because it was so high priced in the past and because the others were so well priced) there are tons of them that are unlocked just like the XP2500 was previously.

Igloo

cool, i ordered the graphics card today, a Sapphire 9600XT 256mb card, for just over ?100 on www.novatech.co.uk. i shall upgrade the rest sometime soon!

Hoot, how can i tell if its locked / unlocked?

If you see the multipliers in the DRAM section of your bios, and can use then then it's unlocked.  Good luck with your parts :)
