Install Creator (see travis for more info) wants me to have 16color and 256color versions of 16x16, 32x32 and 48x48 icons for programs. How do I do this? I know how to do 1-res, 1-colorset icons, but not this. How do I do it?

Can't find Travis, perhaps you could provide more info on what you're trying to accomplish.

Do you have a graphic file to begin with? If so, try IrfanView to resize and save as a .ico file.

If not, then you will need to make a graphic with a graphics drawing program such as Jasc Paint Shop Pro or The GIMP.

I know how to make icons, but I don't know how to make ones like this:

16x16, 16 colors
16x16, 256 colors
32x32, 16 colors
32x32, 256 colors
48x48, 16 colors
48x48, 256 colors

I know how to make single-res, single-colorset icons. Just rename a bitmap from xxx.bmp to xxx.ico. But the puzzler is how to make ones that have separate images for each of the above resolution\colordepth settings. And Install Creator (the program I want to use) wants that.

It's just a matter of sizing the image, and then choosing the appropriate color depth in the graphics program.

For example, in PSP, I would resize the image to 16x16 using the resize function, then decrease the color depth to 16 colors from the colors menu, and save as a new file. Repeat for each of the desired sizes/color depths.

But I am pretty sure you need all of them in one file. Sorta like pyramid images in TIFF, except I don't even think I can make those.
