I believe pchealth was one of them

but it would help best if you list all checked and unchecked in msconfig

I know it would jog my memory

I think you also need to have StateMgr running too.

But like Ice said it would help to poast what's in MSconfig.

One more thought. You might be able to turn it back on by turning it off.

Right click on My Computer, select properties, performance, file system, troubleshooting, then click on system restore and ok. You should then be prompted to restart, click OK. Then just do the reverse and it may turn itself back on.

However if you used a third party utility like startup cop to disable start up items it may interfere. I also think when you turn it off you lose all previously saved restores. Perhaps someone here knows for sure about that one.

LOL,

Pat

I agree when you turn it off all save points are gone

Hi Dirty Dragon,

A couple of months ago I was notified by HP that my computer would need a Bios upgrade because in September my system would no longer recognize any check points after that Sept date. I don't recall the date that the Restore would stop but I did get the Bios update, however, I have never used the Restore so I don't know if it works or not. ME is my OS and I am sure there is a connection there.

Thanks for the replies everyone, here's my list of unchecked items in msconfig,

taskmonitor

SiS khooker

svaplayer

realtray

scanregistry

loadpowerprofile

mad.exe

motivemonitor

loadqm

new net startup

excite platform

mm tray

pchealth

statemgr

ssdpsrv

loadpowerprofile

true vector

minilog

virtual assistant

reboot

Now,  Ive rechecked pchealth and statemgr as suggested by a few of you, are there any others on my list that I need to select as well?

The command line for statemgr looks promising, it is:

c:\windows\system\restore\statemgr.exe

I hope by selecting pchealth and statemgr my restore will automatically fire up again.  I'll keep you posted.

You might want to re-enable taskmonitor and scanregistry since they're standard Windows setup.  Load power profile is also one, but probably isn't needed.

Thanks to everyone!!!

My system restore is now automatically saving check points again.  I rechecked pchealth and statemgr as suggested and all is fine again.  Im not sure which one did it, or maybe it was both who knows, regardless , thanks to all!!!

Respectfully,

I installed Windows ME a few months back and so far have liked it, especially the restore function.  When I first installed it, 2 times a day ME would automatically create 2 restore points,  somehow, for whatever reason, its not automatically creating any restore points now.  I have to manually create my own restore points or it goes weeks without saving any.  Ive tinkered around with the  msconfig option to free up some ram on the machine and I think I must have turned something off that needs to run in the backround all of the time.  Does anyone have an inkling to what it is that I need to turn back on to make this nice feature work?

Regards,

DirtyDragon
