inverter card...

Hi, i found that my friends monitor being dark is because of a bad "inverter card" any ideas on how much this repair should cost?  anyway i can do it on my own?
i'm just another helpless noob without Poasters.  i appreciate the help everyone...thank you!!!

The inverter and backlight should cost less than $50 in parts, if they're available - not all of them are.  Labor for the repair should be around $100 or so.

Yes, you can do it, but I would not attempt it without a full repair manual and a set of small screwdrivers.  You'll have to dismantle the screen to get at the parts, measure and spec them, and then order.  If you're comfortable working around small, intricate assemblies, and with soldering, it's doable - if not, let a pro handle it.
