Title: how to set bios to boot from cd?
Post by: wonderings on February 11, 2007, 17:04 hrs
I am trying to help a friend out. His computer not boot off of a dvd. He is running NT. I think I remember that you could go into the bios and tell it to boot from the dvd drive. Is this right? and if so, how do I get into the bios and change that?

thanks

Yes that is correct.
Different systems have the boot order listed under different menus, but Advanced is a common one. Just look for a boot order listing and when you find it just change it so CD is the first item to boot.
Look also for a list of what keys to hit to perform the various actions you need to take.

All my computers use the delete key, however different manufacturers may use a different one. F1, F2, ESC, and F10 are common.

Try the delete key as soon as you turn the system on and before the operating system loads.

Do you know the manufacturer and/or motherboard  model?

thanks, F2 worked for me. Very simple after that, just set the dvd drive to be booted from first. Thanks again!
