I think that If we know three things about computers were all off to a great start for example the user or user preferance.that means you have determined to have a shared use computer over a user preferance or Vice versa...2nd you know & understand why you need to clear the cache and cookies once in awhile& history & off line content.3rd you know how to go Into safe mode & why esp. with windows 98 perhaps you'll never need to go into safe mode with windows xp?4th take note how your own computer Is set up go Into network neighbourhood don't adjust anything just look how your own computer Is set up.Go Into control pane and double click your way all threw
every Icon and take note and remember how your own computer Is configured?congradulation your...your own P.C. Specialist

A dwarf walks into a bar and says "I'd like to be a mini-PC specialist."

I guess it would've been a low bar.  Here, I think we need to raise the bar every so often.  And get a glass ceiling, if not mirrors.

Otherwise, I have determined there are 3 areas in which one needs to be adept to be a Computer Power User.

First, be able to change your color combination.  I quit trying to do "themes" as you get bizarre mouse arrows and other annoying visuals, besides the color scheme.  Me, I right click that desktop like a banshee and go to it.  I dropped the XP type effects after about 5 minutes after I got it, and went traditional.  Although scurrying around My Computer or Control Panel is ok in XP mode.

Next, be able to change that desktop.  Download some different ones.  I even used to customize my own out of the Corel bundle of photos, but I haven't tried that with the new PC.  Watch out on the web, though, for those free desktop wallpaper sites..  Some of them are picturesque, but wow... If it mentions "Girls" or "Beautiful something or other" or "Babes" or "Babes and Girls" or "Swimsuits, or Not" or "Hot something or other" just watch out.  You don't know who might land on your dang screen, all decked out or desked out or just sprawled all over your dang icons.

Stick to "Scenery" or "Cars" or even "Airplanes".  But not "Hot Cars" 'cause there's probably some hot babe chick girl clinging to the side of it.

Ok; that seemed like a lot there but that was still #2.  For #3, be able to poast in chatrooms, but only one, since why the heck would you want to hop around to a bunch of them just to repeat yourself.  Oh, and beware of people named after their cat if they hang around them and dream of being a cop or at least impersonating one.  Some people can be dangerous if you aren't careful.  Or, heck, if they're not careful.

Oh, and third; I personally think you should ignore any websites about computers that misspell "computer" or people who YELL STUFF!!!!! AND OVER DO THE DANG EXCLAMATION MARKS AND ARE ALL PANICKY AND NEEDY HELP ME!!!! HELP ME NOW!!!!! I NEED TOO GET A DOS EMAIL ADDRSS
HURRY and mispell stuff, especially "to."

That works for me.  I know just how my computer is set up; the box thingy is down here by my left leg in its own little compartment, and the monitor is on the top shelf of the faux Scandinavian desk and the keyboard is under my hands on the middle and the mouse is down there on the right on the cushioned gel pad and the coffee cup and new cool Belkin power strip I had to get when the dang USB 2.0 plug in addon required its own walwart, dangit.  No, not "Walmart."  That's something else I won't go to.

Ace; I wonder what a Maxi Computer is.  Probably one of those big old cases with the clear side; like I'd see that, through the faux wood anyway.

Ring bells for service.
