Tom T.

completed a new system last night all is fine EXCEPT the
asus cdrw. It will burn a cd but when I put a music cd in to play I get the error message;
(Digital Audio Extraction Error
 Communication Failure
 Do you want to save log file)
and when I put a data cd in to the cdrw I get the error message;  E:\is not a valid win32 applicaltion
Does this mean the new cdrw is bad or do I have something installed wrong or a block checked or unchecked in a program somewhere.
I have changed the ribbon cable and the analog out to the motherboard.  the cd rom playes just fine with no problems
but so far all the cdrw will do is copy from the cdrom. It does reconogize the type of disc I put into it(music or data)
but then the error messages. do I need to return the writer or can some one help. Thanks Tom T.
(asus mother board is used in this application with a p4 2'4 cpu) os is windows 98se

Two things -

do a full virus scan with an up to date scanner, and

make sure you loaded the Intel chipset drivers for your system  - Windows98 won't work properly without them.

If that persists - try turning off any auto-detect on the CD (Creative Disc Detector, etc.).
