Igloo,
A small point. If you're going to but the Artic CPU cooler anyway, why not buy the A64 as OEM, not retail?  Save yourself a few quid.

The main advantage of buying a retail AMD CPU is that you get 3 years warranty rather than 1.  Unfortunately to qualify for warranty repairs/replacement you have to have used AMD's stock cooler, and it is obvious that you haven't because it won't be covered in pink/green "chewing gum" thermal interface material.

Igloo

couldnt you argue the fact that you had problems installing etc, and changed motherboard. having to replace the material?

You can argue whatever you want, but I prefer the honest approach. A true measure of a man is one who remains honest even when it's not in his best interest.

As Scuzzy said, honesty is the best policy. As to my retail AMD 64 3500+ processor, I put on a Thermalright XP-90 heat sink/Panaflo fan combo. I figure that if it faults, it will be early enough that I can return the processor to the vendor (7 days from my place of purchase). If it failed later, I can upgrade the CPU for much less than what I paid for the original.  ;D
