Hi,

I have an Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop with a 15" screen.   By default, the screen resolution was set to 1400x1050, which makes all the icons and bits on the screen look tiny.   However, when I change the resolution to 1024x768 (the same as our desktop and Sony Vaio laptop, both of which also have 15" screens) the everything looks slightly blurred.   I have tried changing the gamma, brightness and contrast in the ATI control panel, but I cannot remove the blur.   Putting the res back to 1400x1500 makes the image pin sharp again.   I have tried leaving the res at 1400x1050 and just increasing the DPI from 96DPI to 120%, but this results in some program boxes and forms being cut (i.e. tick boxes have the tops cut off and text is truncated).   The graphics card is and ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (128MB).

Can anyone suggest what I could do to either increase the icons and text on the screen without the aforementioned truncations or sharpen the screen image at 1024x768?   Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Marc.

You might start by looking in Control Panel --> Display --> Appearance --> Font Size

Maybe also Accessibility Options --> Display, which lets you increase the contrast

That's a really sweet notebook.  :)

Sadly, running at anything but the native screen resolution is going to cause noticible pixalation or bluring.

Do what Neon said in regaurds to font size. Also in that window, click advanced, then use the drop down menu to find the various windows fonts, and increace them to your liking. With tweaking, you can make it work for you at the native resolution. Good luck!

Thanks very much for the tips guys - I'll have a play around and see if I can get it looking how I'd like it to look.   In itself it isn't really a problem, it's more that it causes eye-strain when I'm constantly moving between the lappie and desktop (as I was while website testing yesterday)!

Oh yeah!   Runs like a dream.   Not bad for ?800 in the Staples sale ;D

Thanks again.
Cheers,
Marc.
