Boot up services.

Following the suggestion in another Poast, I used the ElderGeek site to "rationalize"  Start up Services on XP Home.  
I essentially disabled everthing suggested, particularly those that related to Networks and the like.  I have a stand alone system.
After a reboot, it seems as if my system doubled in speed, both internally and surfing.  
Don't know what made the improvement but what a substantial difference!!   And, after a defrag, it is even better.

Edit: except here.  I have been experiencing delays sporadically for 2-3 days.

The delays are getting worse for me.  This morning (GMT) I am repeatedly having to retry any navigation clicks and then have to wait sometimes more than a minute before anything happens.

It took me nearly five minutes to get this reply poast open.

We are aware of the problem. We currently think it's an issue with our host server, but we are still looking.
