Well, I just ordered my college laptop from buyxg.com. They are supposedly a sister company to cyber power, where I was originailly going to buy, but buyxg was offering a better deal on the same laptop. Reviews are mostly good for buyxg, but it may be a slight risk, however, I know someone who got a cyberpower, and are very happy with them. Here is what I got

MSI MS-1039 1280x800 15.4"
Turion MT-37 2Ghz 1MB cahce
1GB corsiar PC3200
x1600 256MB
100GB 5400RPM HDD
802.11b/g
8x DVDRW
Built in camera
Free 1GB flash drive

Free shipping
total $1060

It should be here in about 2-3 weeks. Hope it works out. They give a 1 year warranty and lifetime tech support. I'll keep you all updated!

Yeah, you do that SCSI! ;)

Sadly, it likely won't ship until the 13th of June, and add another week for Fedex ground from CA to FL.

I have used laptops before, but I have never owned one, and never gamed on one for any length of time. We bought a used Acer Tablet for my aunt, which I used for a week. It was entertaining.

I don't plan on using this one for gamming on a regular basis, and when I do, I'll HAVE to use an external mouse, maybe keyboard. At least with the x1600, I have the option to if I need to use it for games. I got it loaded exactly as I wanted, so it should be able to run anything I throw at it. I'll bet it will also run Vista well, esspecially if I stick in another GB of RAM, which I can.

The price did not include windows, as I already have a copy of XP pro handy. They were only charging $60~70 for XP home, which isn't bad.

I am also hoping the BIOS will have the options of a DIY computer since it is really a built MSI 1039. Anyways, I think it will be good for me, assuming it arrives in good order.
