I have Overclocked my 2500+ to a 3200+ easily but i've seen fans that are designed to go up to an Athlon XP 3400+ (mainly ThermalTake products) My question is if you were trying to Overclock a CPU to a 3400+ with a Multiplyer of 11 what would you FSB need to be. Now I know it is possilble to do this because i was reading reviews at Newegg.com that said some guy got his 3200+ up to a 3600+.

Assuming the 3400+ is running at a clock of 2.2Ghz:

200*11 = 2200MHz.

Therefore, FSB is at 200Mhz.

that is what the 3200+ Athlon XP runs at 2.2 GHz

That's interesting. The Athlon 64 3400 runs at 2.2 GHz. Since that is the only 3400 that Athlon has, it is probably where saoirse got his number that he used.

Do you know what an Athlon XP 3400 would run at if it existed? Just divide it by the multiplier to get the FSB.

The estimated Athlon XP value, for a 3400+ would be ~ 2666Mhz.

=> FSB ~ 242.

You would need to increase the multiplier, if you were planning on achieving this.

hey i guess i dont understand this very well but my 3.0GHz P4 has a 800MHz FSB and its multiplier is on 15 so shouldnt that mean that i have a 12GHz P4 lol

The FSB on an Intel 800 Mhz bus chip is still running at 200 Mhz. It is an effective 800 Mhz, because it is quad pumped by the chip. The number you want to use in the calculation is 200 Mhz.

(200 Mhz)(15) = 3 Ghz.
