Windows 7 Mail

So, if you go with windows 7, what are you going to use for a email application? If you've tried W7 I'm sure you've noticed there is no built in email client. That's fine if you already use something else or just use a web based program, but if you used Windows Mail (Vista) or Outlook Express (XP) you're out of luck.

There is the Windows Live email client, I tried it and it's sort of OK, but I'm not so sure how much I like it.

I've tried Thunderbird several times in the past and just recently I tried it again and I just can't warm up to it.

I know there are several other email clients out there, but I think I'll just keep using Windows Mail. I came across this thread from   The Windows Seven Site. It shows how to reinstate the Windows Mail client for Vista into Windows 7. It works, but it's not perfect. For some reason Windows Mail once installed and running will not set as the default client, not a big deal, just unclick the nag box to run at start-up. I use Mailwasher to check messages before downloading and had to manually set Windows Mail to Open when I click "Process Mail". Mailwasher cannot see that Windows Mail is installed. Also I'm not sure if this work around will work in the RTM version of Windows 7. But for now' I'll just work with this and see how it goes, Windows Mail meets all my needs.

I use MS Office Outlook, so not a problem when I finally upgrade. It is good information to know for sure.
